Filming Moving Projection

Moving Projection
We wanted to add something unique and visually different to our video. We felt that moving projection was something relatively simple to do yet still looked extremely effective. We were careful about what videos to project onto Nova. We needed something that not only linked in with our video but something that would be clear enough to see over her face and not be distorted in any way shape or form. This is the reason why we chose to project the ocean; the crystal blue water reminded us of summer which features quite often throughout our video and it would also be visible on our artist to be completely clear what is being projected.
We used the whiteboard projector which is available to us in our classroom at school- not only is it only convenient for us but it is also easily accessible and of a good quality. We created a makeshift platform for our artist to stand on whilst we projected the ocean video onto her, she then lip synced as we filmed close up and wide shots.
We made sure that Nova was wearing a white top so that the imagery would not be disrupted and would show up (e.g. a black top would not pick up any of the projection).

Overall, we would all agree that our filming was very successful. Our artist lip synced the entire song therefore we can be selective over which verses we use in our final cut. We also filmed a couple of different types of shots therefore we can also decide which of these we use too, it gives us more options which is important during the editing process.
If we were to film moving projection again, I think we would film different projection imagery in order to be more experimental in the type of visuals we use in our final video. Saying this, we are all happy that we chose an ocean video as it fits in with the rest of the content, thus leading to more consistency which is vital.
