Permission Letter to the Record Label

Copy right is a legal right given to the owner of the original piece of music or work.  These types of rights allow the owner to have full control over their music such as by deciding who can use it or reproduce it.
An example of this would be Madonna asking for copyright permission to sample Abba's song 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!' on her single 'Hung Up' as it is not her original material.

Our group had to email Lana Del Rey's record label 'Stranger Records' before we could continue with the planning of our music video to ensure that we would be able to use her song 'Without You' for our own purposes.

Below is a print screen of the email I wrote to 'Stranger Records'. I clearly stated our reasoning for using the song (for our A-Level Coursework) and the fact that we were not gaining any profit from using it as it evidently does not belong to us. I also stated how if the record label didn't respond to my email that I would presume access had been granted for us to use the song.
